I would like to thank the people in Tutong for looking after the body of my friend Ian mack untill he could be returned to Scotland. It was a great comfort to his family to know he was not alone. Thank you also to the person who took him out of the sea. This evening Ian is back home in Scotland.

Dear Anonymous,
We would like to convey our deepest condolences to you, all of the late Ian Mack's friends, as well as his family. We learned about his sad passing first-hand through Ian's colleague at school (a personal friend), via his Facebook. They were very close and in fact sat facing each other in the staffroom, and staff at his school were also deeply affected by this tragic accident. I did not know Ian, but colleagues speak very highly of him, and you can take comfort in the fact that he led a happy and wonderful life here in Brunei. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hi Elaine,
I've given you the email address in reply to your msg. I hope you can make contact to help you deal with your sad loss. In our Tutong tradition we say "sabar gala", which literally means "Be patient", which may be sound like an understatement, but should be taken to mean "Accept fate, and take comfort in it" as we believe our loved ones leave us for a better place, as willed by God, and that this is just another stage in our lives. It is sad and difficult, but I pray that your family may find the strength to carry on and celebrate his happy life. God bless.
